Discover Children’s Museum Unveils Mobile Trailer Unit to Bring Learning Activities to Local Elementary Schools

January, 29, 2023

Discover! Children’s Museum is thrilled to share the launch of its Mobile Trailer, an educational facility on wheels designed to bring engaging and interactive learning experiences directly to local events and elementary schools.

In an effort to expand its reach and offer opportunities to local students, Discover! Children’s Museum has invested in these outreach initiatives to deliver hands-on learning activities while the physical museum is planned and constructed.  The Mobile Trailer is equipped with a diverse range of educational resources and exhibits, ensuring an immersive and enriching experience for young minds.  The exhibits focus on STEM activities emphasizing the importance of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics.

Discover! Children’s Museum hired Shelby Campbell in spring 2023 to conduct these mobile workshops, facilitating hands-on learning experiences that align with school curriculum standards.  The Mobile Unit has visited locations across the county from Adna to Mossyrock Elementary Schools.  Discover Children’s Museum has hosted outreach programs at events including Centralia College’s Family Fun Fair and the Salkum Library.  To date, Discover! Childrens Museum has made 24 visits across the county.  They will be at Arbor Health’s upcoming Family Resource Fair on March 23 from 10-12 at Morton Elementary School.

“Our outreach programs are adaptable to different age groups and can be customized to complement specific classroom lessons,” says Larry McGee, Board President.  “We are excited to have this opportunity to take education on the road while we continue plans to build our permanent facility,” stated McGee.  The trailer and exhibits have been funded by a generous donation from Lewis County Rotary Foundation and Capital ESD 113, Discover! Children’s Museum STEM Support grant.

Discover Children’s Museum will continue this mobile education experience once the permanent museum opens as an important opportunity to connect with kids and families at local schools and events.  For more information or to schedule a visit from the Discover Children’s Museum Mobile Trailer, please contact: info@discovermuseum.org.
